| Title: | Pulsating Diffuse Combustion in Macro Gravity |
Starting & Finishing Date : Nov. 1979 – July 1998
Abstract:
The Objective of this Research , which has been founded by NASA as a long term project, are obtain the analyzed experimental data on the Structure of pulsating diffuse flame in micro gravity.
a) The first phase, the Design of the experimental facilities to produce the pulsating diffuse flame in the laboratory and measure the thermo-fluid characteristic of the flame on the ground.
b) The second phase was encapsulated the experimental facilities in a special capsule in order to repeat. The experiments in The NASA drop tower (in the absence if the gravity) and compare the results with the ground result.
In regard to the first phase, the experimental facilities were designed and constructed as is shown in Fig 1. The temperature distribution in the centerline of the puff shape pulsating flame was measured by thermocouple and compared with steady flame temperature. Fig 2 shows a sample of temperature distribution along the centerline of the puff shape flame.
This project is not completed yet and more results are expected to come.
