• Abstract:

  Ice Storage as a thermal storage in commercial building is a known technology originated over 40 years ago, but its importance is not very well appreciated by air conditioner designers especially in Iran, where electricity is relatively cheap.

This system is based on manufacturing ice by refrigeration during off- peak periods and remelting during peak demand periods to meet cooling requirements.

This project which is shown in single line diagram (see bellow Picture) , is a full scale one, with the aim of presenting the economic advantage as well as its technical know - how of ice-  storage system to air – conditioner designer and the authorities of the electricity generating companies.

Of course, implementation the results of this project throughout the country can shift the peak load to off peak time and minimize the capital costs.
